For researcher Sherry Turkle, Abby Rockefeller Mauzé Professor of the Social Studies of Science and Technology at MIT and Founder and Director of the MIT Initiative on Technology and Self. , “We think with the objects we love; we love the objects we think with.” In Evocative Objects, Turkle pairs the autobiographical writings of artists, designers, educators, scientists, and social scientists that trace the power of everyday things with a texts from philosophy, history, literature, or theory. These juxtapositions are playful, profound, emotional and intellectual serving as memory companions, relationship-initiators and triggers for new ideas.
