Design Currency: Icograda {International Council of Graphic Design Associations} Design Week in Vancouver 2010
Cur”rency\
The state or quality of being current; general acceptance or reception; a passing from person to person, or from hand to hand.
Design has the power to influence our society, our culture, our economics, and our worldview. Design can engage us in the form of an e-book, the shape of a coffee cup, and enhance the meaning of an election ballot.
Design Currency 2010 was a forum for designers, business leaders and government representatives to experience current design thinking and its value as a managed resource.
Emily Carr University’s design program was featured at the trade show where we distributed the first issue of Current. To learn more about the event read the blog post from Isabelle Swiderski, one of our outstanding design alums. Isabelle is the Creative Director of her own studio, Seven 25, and you should also check out her blog as well.
Ian Grais of Rethink Advertising was a keynote speaker at the event. To read his thoughts on design currency, “10 ways designers can help now” go to his post on the Rethink site.
