We are proud to have a dynamite team of contributors on the Design°. Our staff include:

DEBORAH SHACKLETON

Deborah Shackleton is an Associate Professor who teaches design and critical studies courses. She attended Ryerson University to study design and media arts, and Royal Roads to study leadership and learning. Deborah’s research and teaching interests include design theory and research, human-centred designing, and learning theory for design development. Many of her students have won design awards and scholarships. In addition to her teaching practice Deborah is a published designer, writer and photographer. As a co-recipient of curriculum and social science research grants she has developed projects for the BC Ministry of Advanced Education and the BC Ministry of Education. Deborah is one of the founding editors of Current, the university’s design journal, and one of several NSERC-funded researchers looking into design initiatives for the health care sector. In 2010 she was awarded the Ian Wallace Teaching Award.

BREE GALBRAITH

I am a third-year student at Emily Carr, majoring in Communication Design. For the past year, I have been involved in CURRENT, the University’s Design Research journal, as well I am the student responsible for the design journal blog, and am one-half of the team who were chosen to create this (amazing) online presence you see before you.

MAX OLSON

I am a senior design student at Emily Carr University, as well as a freelance graphic designer. I am interested in identity, information, communications, print and web design.
