Health care researchers develop a tremendous amount of data. The challenge is to be able to see both the system and the parts simultaneously. This is where information/interaction designers can aid health researchers in refining their findings for delivery to a variety of stakeholders.
David Humphrey, MAA design stream alumnus and sessional faculty member teaching interaction design in the Faculty of Design and Dynamic Media, lead a small team of directed studies students to develop Abracadata as one of the Research Office’s Health Lab design initiatives. Working with Dr. Quynh Doan of BCCH the team of Humphrey, Rachel Simpson, Shelagh McClennan and Vince Lo generated a visualization schema or a simulation output model of the use of physician assistants in healthcare.
